Wayne Mark Bechthold was born July 14, 1961, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Leland and Alvina Bechthold. The family purchased a 320-acre farm in Belgrade and made it their home in August 1970. When Leland died unexpectedly in April 1973, Wayne, then 11 years old, did his best to step into his father’s shoes and helped the family keep the farm.
In 1979, Wayne graduated from Belgrade High School and worked for Belgrade Superior Feed. Wayne later began working for Crow River Industries, learning the welding trade. In 1993, looking for adventure, Wayne went to Montana and worked as a wrangler guiding trail rides in Glacier National Park. Wayne then returned to work in Belgrade.
In October 1994, Wayne participated in the buffalo roundup in Custer State Park. Following the roundup, he married Brenda Theis. They then lived in Richmond, MN, until they built their home in 2000 in Belgrade. In 2003, Wayne graduated from the Minnesota School of Horseshoeing and worked as a farrier for a number of years. Wayne enjoyed his home, horses, being with family and friends, and going out to lunch to visit with others.
Wayne is survived by his spouse, Brenda Theis; and his siblings, Veronica (Al) Inderrieden and Denise (Charles) Hicks; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
