Wayne R. Friedrich

Wayne Robert Friedrich, 73, of Spicer, MN, died August 31, 2026, at CentraCare Rice Memorial Hospital. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Wayne's life with a visitation on Tuesday, September 8th, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar, followed by a Service of Remembrance at 5:00 PM. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. www.hafh.org

Wayne was born on August 14, 1953, in Montevideo, MN, to Herbert and Luella (Swenson) Friedrich. Growing up in Appleton, he laid the groundwork for a life characterized by dedication to community and family. On May 11, 1974, Wayne married his beloved wife, Jane Gluth, beginning a partnership that would last 52 years.

Wayne devoted many years to a career in law enforcement, retiring from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office in 2003. During his time there, he became known not only for his investigative skills but also for his genuine concern for the community he served. His commitment extended beyond his career, as he participated actively in local governance, holding positions on the New London-Spicer School Board and the SWWC Service Cooperative Board of Directors.

Wayne's legacy lives on through his love for family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him-even if it meant losing some hair over the antics of his daughters. Wayne cherished simple moments: bringing Jane flowers, sharing movies and popcorn with his grandchildren, and indulging them with his endless supply of "Papa snacks." His passion for family outings, whether camping or simply spending time together, showcased a man whose heart was large and whose affection for others was unwavering.

In addition to his family life, Wayne had diverse interests. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, and taking meticulous care of his yard, He really loved running errands, and having coffee and conversations brought him joy.

Wayne is survived by his devoted wife, Jane; daughters Jennifer (Michael) Asher and Rachel (Tony) Ree; and grandchildren Ethan, Zachary, Tyson, Emersyn, Haley, and Dylan. He is also survived by his brothers Glen, Jerald, and Richard Friedrich, as well as a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Luella Friedrich. As we remember Wayne, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. May his spirit continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched.
