Wesley Martinson, 83, of Willmar, died Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar, surrounded by family.
His memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. A recording of the service can be viewed on the church's YouTube page. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar.
Wesley Eugene Martinson was born July 28, 1942, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Amon and Ruth (Jacobson) Martinson. He was a lifetime resident of Willmar, where he attended Garfield and Washington Elementary Schools, and graduated from Willmar High School in 1960. He then attended St. Cloud State University to study accounting.
On August 30, 1963, he married Bonnie Bjerke at the Green Lake Bible Camp Chapel. They made their home in Willmar, where they raised their two children: Renae and Jeff. Wesley worked for many years as a Certified Public Accountant, including time with the Torgerson companies; Conway, Deuth & Schmiesing; Latham & Parker; and Christianson & Associates.
Wesley was a lifelong member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar, where he had served on the church council and as treasurer. Wesley was an avid amateur photographer and enjoyed spending time printing photos in his darkroom. He also had an extensive collection of cameras. He was an active ham radio operator under the call sign WAØIAD. Wesley was proud of his Norwegian heritage and his lifetime residence in Willmar. He was a devoted supporter of the reunions of the class of 1960, and enjoyed drives around Willmar sharing history of the city, and stories of his past.
He is survived by his wife: Bonnie Martinson; his two children: Renae Harvell of Elk River and Jeffrey (Heather) Martinson of Dayton; five grandchildren: Brandon Harvell, Sarah Harvell, Henry (Mel) Martinson, Clara Martinson, and Gus Martinson; and his beloved dog, Ranger. He was preceded in death by his parents, stillborn twins, and his son-in law Keith Harvell.
